I really enjoyed this movie but I must confess that I didn't seem to "get" all of it. I never understood any of the scenes involving the birthday cake. I didn't understand why her daughter turned around and turned into one of the creatures. I also didn't understand the ending when she snapped back from her dream but got up as if her body waere like the creatures. And finally, what the heck was that ending implying? Did she die? Let me know what you got out of it. And yes, I agree that it was a pretty good little scary movie. The cave scenes really played on the claustrophobia.

The end was the girls final step into insanity as she went crazy. She was having halutinations. The movie was a metaphor or the descent that one tranverses into madness as she became more seperated from the "Reality" that surrounds her. where her and her friends ,the friends represented her different internal aspects,ie Juno was the Fight that kept her anchored in reality. In the end when Juno dies there is no hope of her comming back form the Cave and is happy with her fantasy world where her Daughter is still alive.

Everytime she sees her daughter she is hallucinating. The final scene implies that she died in the cave, but there are others who will contend otherwise.

I know after watching it I never want to go caving again.

I think she did die in the end. I think the horror in her real life was supposed to be better than where she ended up(the horror of the cave) I think at the end she just mentally checked out. I thought the ending was lame.
