The risk of telling someone you dont know very well isnt very great. If they think bad or different of you then who cares, but if a trusted friend thinks different of you, you might lose their respect. But if your friends really are good friends they will accept you as you are. Sounds like you need to talk about things in your life to get oppions from others,to confirm what you think about your feelings . Hope this helps.

I just think sometimes it is easier to talk to a stranger. For example, look at all of us here in Yahoo Answers. If we say something and someone judges us, who cares? We don't have to interact with each other on a daily basis like we do with friends.

you can not say you trust your friend if you can not tell them about yourself. you afraid of their judgement if they know about you. this is the right time to know whether they are your friend or not.
i tell all my friend about myself. in fact my life si like a story book where my frieind can see and read it. i never hide things from my friend. and if they have problem with it then it's their problem not mine. as long as i don't do bad things then i see no reson for not telling them.
you can always find new friend if you think they are not good enough for you.

I believe that you do trust your friends to an extent, but it sounds like to me that you are afraid they may judge you or ask to many questions, maybe be to nosey in to your business, or they may give you an opinion that you don't want to hear becuz they know you better than a stranger.

because it easier to talk to someone that you dont have that level of intimacy (sexual or not) with. your best friends know so much about you and the way you think about yourself....usually a stranger doesnt know all of your details...and manipulate them to tell you want you want to hear

Those closest to us tend to judge us more and are more critical. A lot of times we feel we less to lose with someone we have no connection to.

Maybe because you won't see them again. maybe because they care a lot less about you so let it go in one ear and out the other. could be a lot of things

Beacuse we are too self conscious of what our best friends would think of us.
