Does my computer have a built in wireless card? I bought wireless interent from bellsouth, not sure if I have a wireless card. I went to hp.com and typed in my model number( Hp Pavilion Ze 4500) and looked for its specs. got no real "answer"..i looked under my internet modems...and didnt see anything. There is a slot on the side of my computer that is ready for a card...does that mean i dont have one? and if so..where could I get one?

That doesn't mean that you don't already have a card inside of your laptop. You should call the computer company and have them look up your records to see when you purchased it and if a card came with it. If not you can buy one at Best Buy, Cicuit City, etc.

My ASSUMPTION would be that you do NOT have a wireless card. You purchased the wireless service from bellsouth, but you still need the card. Yes, the slot on the side of the computer is where the card would go. You can purchase a wireless card from pretty much any electronics store, like Best Buy or Circuit City, just ask for a wireless card for use on laptops, and they will have a stock model that will conform to your laptop.

The presence of a slot doesn't mean that you don't have one.

Many Pavilions have a "wireless" button in the middle, just above the keyboard.

Also, you can check by:
1) Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Windows Explorer
2) Right click on "My Computer" and select "properties"
3) Click on Hardware tab
4) Click Device Manager
5) Look for "Network Adapters" & click on the + sign
6) If you see something like "802.11", you've got wireless
If not, you don't

If you don't have wireless, go to Best Buy or a local computer store and look at wireless adapters that connect via USB.

Good luck!

Look on your computer box that it came in( if you still have it), it most likely will tell you.
