Giving your Yahoo! login information to anyone allows them full control of your Yahoo! account.

Giving them control panel access to your Web site, even if it is not hosted on Yahoo!, gives them total control of your Web site and should not be done unless they have provided you with some means of safety, such as performance insurance.

It may well be that they do need control panel access to manage your Web site. If so, insist they perform that portion of the work in your presence, and be prepared to change your password as soon as they are done.

I think they assume you are using some other server than Yahoo. Probably for proprietary reasons, they want to be the ones to put the material on the site so you won't learn how to do it and not need them any more. I would suggest converting that account to only website stuff so that you can share the password, then move everything else to a new account. If it was me, there's nothing happening with my email account that anyone could use for anything, unless you want some hot Eastern Star contacts.
