I think that a $40 router is a $40 router. They all fail. I've tried Dlink, Linksys, Netgear... the list goes on. They all fail. I simply keep spares in stock, and charge my clients to replace them. I need to return a Netgear to the store today that was DOA out of the box.

If you are in a situation where they MUST stay running, then spend the money for a good Cisco wireless. They might cost 10-15X as much, but they seem to last 10-15x as long.

I think routers are pretty much the same except for some added bells and whistles. But, help me understand this:

You have a Linksys now and it's working fine, but you want to get a Netgear? You know I gotta ask WHY ??

I am a CCNA and from personal experience CISCO routers are the best with easy handling and maximum potential.
Hope this helps

D-Link was one of the first 802.11x devices that we certified in the lab for WECA back in 1999.

I use both D-Link and NetGear wireless devices in my home...

That will get different answers from different people. I prefer Linksys myself.
