No problem. In the address bar where you normally type web address, type "http://free.grisoft.com/" without the quotes. That website will offer you a free anti-virus program called AVG. Just click on "download". When you've got it, install it & get it to update itself, then run the program. It'll tell you what if anything it's found and you can decide what to do about it.
It's very good and, better still, absolutely free.
You might also wish to search for "Ad-Aware SE Personal", free again and good at catching out adware & spyware.

You have got to download an anti-virus and after scan all your system......i guess the virus you've got isn't that strong or else you could not be using the Internet, then i think an anti virus like Avg would certainly be a good option to you. Go on http://www.grisoft.com and download avg. Whether your computer system has been damaged the best you got to do it's to use a Cd for Back up of Windows system and reinstall Windows Xp again.

If you have Norton and ada-fingymijig from AOL then I should think you're fine, often these firms tell you to get all their bits and pieces because they want your money. It sounds like you already have all you need, and unless your computers acting strangely, I'd leave things as they are and just let Norton scan your system and adunaware from time to time, while you just sit back with your coffee and a biscuit.
PS. I think with your AOL you can block pop-ups too.

You will have to do a System Restore to get rid of this Smitfraud infection. Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > System Restore. Restore your computer to a date when this thing didn't annoy you. After your computer restarts, scan again with your anti-virus. And if you are using AOL's anti-virus and Norton together, then IMMEDIATELY get rid of one of them, because using two anti-viruses together can pose serious threats for your computer. I would say that get rid of Norton and use AOL.
Good Luck!!

Well click on this link http://www.court.co.uk/ then on the left where it says DOWNLOADS, click on AVG free antivirus. It will open a box and just follow the instructions and it will scan your computer, and find the virus for you and then you can remove it. AVG is totally free, and has it's own method of updating itself. Whenever you download a programme it will use more memory.
If you later decide to remove any programs such as AVG, go to your control panel in windows, look at add/remove programs and go down the list to see what you have that you no longer use, this will help free up some memory on your PC, which will help it run faster.

Check out the following links. Something here should be suitable as well as the links provided by others. AVG free is a good anti-virus software.
http://www.itlnet.net/toolbox/
There are others, but this should be sufficient for a start.
