I am trying to contact long lost brother who lives in scotland i have part of post code only and he is ex directory I would like to get his full address to write to him any ideas apart from electrol list that costs money

If you check the part address, check bt.com for a phone number and full address.

Yep, it's a scam. You haven't given any important info yet, so no worries. Just don't deposit the check. They are trying to get your info that way. Always be wary when someone is KILLING you with details... they are usually a liar, and that is true regardless of who you are dealing with. Also... if this is exactly the way the message was written, then english is obviously a second language for them from the writing. It's usually foreigners that are trying to pull scams like this, so it's another warning. Contact the police... but I'm guessing this person isn't even this country, so nothing will be done. At least they can be aware of the scam and email addresses associated with it. You're fine - no worries. You haven't been scammed yet.

yes yu go to the post office. look for international zip code book figure out what town he or she lives in or go to person search at any local library

If you put his name into 192.com, you need to register but you get some initial searches free of charge.http://www.192.com/.
If he has lived in the same place since 2001, I can look him up in seconds on UKInfo. Let me know if you want me to do that.
