I have 28 day cycle. Ovulation Predictor Kit positive on 12/29- so ovulation should have happened within next 24-36 hours. Period was due friday 1/12, still nothing- 2 days late. Home pregnancy tests are negative.... one site said LH surge like shown on Ovulation Predictor Test could mean pregnant.... I still had one from kit, took it this morning and came up Definately positive? Could I be pregnant??? Anyone have any experience with this??? Thanks. Oh yeah, and if I am pregnant- would low #'s of HcG be reason for concern??? I wish the doctors office was open today. So many questions.... thanks.

I am not familiar with the test you took but with this pregnancy I was 6 weeks late before my test came back positive. If you are pregnant it is still too early to worry about hcg.

First off Ovulation Predictor kits detect two different types of hormones the LH surge you get before you ovulate and of course HCG. Just because you got a positive doesn't indeed confirm that you ovulated. Sometimes you can have a surge that the OPK detects but the surge could have not been strong enough to kick out the egg therefore ovulation is delayed a bit. Unless you are doing some other kind of method in determining ovulation such as charting basal body temperatures or checking cervical position and cervical mucus there is no way of knowing if you did or did not ovulate when the OPK said you did. Also do not be mislead by the positive on the OPK take a home pregnancy test and see what that says, even though OPK's do pick up the hormone HCG a home pregnancy test will pick it up first. Usually in order for the OPK to be considered positive the second line has to be as dark or darker than the control line so if you did indeed get a positive on the OPK then you should get a positive on the home pregnancy test if you are pregnant. So honestly don't get your hopes up just yet take a home pregnancy test and see what that says. Good luck to you and I hope the outcome is something that you want.
