I pay attention. Sometimes there is some validity in the insult, the put down. Especially if you hear people say the same thing about you over and over.

I do try to consider whether or not I may need to change something about myself. An insult, even when stated badly, may give me some insight into my own behavior. No, I don't ignore them, but try to find out if maybe there is some opportunity there to do better.

What do I, myself, do? And as in what? Breathing techniques or punching bags? You need more details! I get angry a LOT. I'm supposed to be on medication for it, but I'm not taking it. I get pissed and I hold it in for as long as possible, but it rises, so I get up and leave. (I yell and bish along the way, of course) Tell people you need time alone, or there will be serious consequences, and you don't want to hit anyone or anything (might cause a huge friendship, etc problem or you may break your hand!). I mean... it kind of depends on the problem. Are you asking this for a certain reason? Give me more details!

I confront them and ask them to tell me to my face what exactly what I have done to deserve what I heard they have said. Normally, they will be all hesitant and say, "oh i didn't really mean it that way," or some such thing. When you confront them, it puts them on the spot. They know better in the future to keep their mouth shut. You can even say to them, if you have something to say about me, say it to my face or don't say it at all!

Hope this helps!!

Listen to what they say. Is there truth to it, a lot of times there is and people just do not want to hear it. If this is the case then tell them thanks have a nice day.

IF they are being ******* and are out of line the best way to get them is to smile and say ok, by giving them no reaction then you will make them really angry. they are looking for a reaction.

I would ask them what I have done to them that they would have such and attitude. I would like to know why they are acting in such a manner so that I may correct a behaviour which caused this verbal abuse. Humble yourself.

Those are your best options. The more you address an issue, the more energy you give it. That which we focus upon, our mind will create in our lives. Do you want more or to get past it?

I say something back, I dont just let people walk all over me like. Ignoring it is just taking it like a punk, you have to stand up for yourself.

Well, if it really made me angry or upset, I'd tell them "Excuse me! That was very rude of you," and then carry on the conversation with them, depending on how they respond to that.
