What are the pros and cons of being an American?

Pro: You have freedoms like nowhere else in the world.
Con: People despise our country brcause of these freedoms.

Pro: We are quite probably the safest nation in the world.
Con: The outside people who would threaten that safety.

Pro: When it works properly, the greatest form of government.
Con: It doesn't properly often enough.

Pros- we have the right to speak our mind, we have lower taxes than most (Europe because of its socialist economy is at about 60%!), we have the right to vote, we can choose our own religion, the ability to overcome a social class and move higher on the economic ladder, the ability to be free thinkers, being able to enjoy the vast openness of our great country, everyone having the chance to better themselves, there are so many things. After living overseas for almost 8 years, I appreciate the little things, fast service, competitive stores, hamburgers, 24 hours shopping, free highway system, hard working people in businesses (in many places in Europe service is slow and bad)

Cons- Americans that do not appreciate or value the United States and all we have here. Go live overseas a while, visit a socialist hospital (wait 5 months to get an appointment at the dentist, and wait another 10 hours after your appointment time, to get a tooth fixed) pay 60% of your income to the government and live with mommy and daddy until your 40 because you cant afford to move out. It makes me sick to see people trashing our country with knowledge only obtained from the news media about other countries.

The only con
-because we are a free country, we allow idiots to be heard. Sometimes to the point of drowning out the more intelliegent speakers. The sorry point in this statement is that these idiots then influence other idiots.
If you don't agree with this statement take a look at Yahoo answers and just see how many questions could be answered by the asker (word??) if the asker would just do a simple Google search.
Instead of doing legitimate research most people are content to let someone else make up their mind.
