I really don't understand this double standard either. I personally don't have a problem with the UNCF helping out African American students..but when they start refusing help to other ethnicities? That is just plain wrong. It would seem that racial bias is fully acceptable within the African American community but if us caucasians even as much as step a foot over the line? What irks me more is that African Americans put us all in one big bunch as far as slavery goes.."White folks"..forgetting that the vast majority of white folks were poor during slavery times and certainly didn't own anybody. In fact, there were even many white slaves. Slavers were a small proportion of the white community..so why blame ALL of us for it? I certainly don't have any slavers in my family history..we were all on a different continent..so why should I have to pay for what other folks did? Please, folks, stop lumping us all into one category because it is more convenient for you to do so....gosh, perish the though that there might actually be white folks on this earth that actually aren't racist!

As long as you're at it, apply to the following organizations too and see how many scholarships you get from them:
MASA Scholarship: MASA, a new joint program of the Jewish Agency for Israel and the Government of Israel will be providing scholarships of up to 90% of tuition costs for eligible students spending a semester or year studying at Mayanot.
Harkham Scholarship:This scholarship intends to give all Jewish students access to the classical texts of Judaism regardless of their financial situation. Students can apply for the Harkham Scholarship for a partial or full tuition scholarship.
Belzberg Summer Fellowship: Special scholarships are available for the summer semester at Mayanot as part of the Belzberg Summer Fellowship sponsored by Marc and Chantal Belzberg.
Ufaratzta Fund Airfare Grant: Eligible students will qualify for the partial or full cost of airfare to and from Israel.
Post birthright israel Jewish Studies Scholarship A: This scholarship gives alumni of the Mayanot birthright israel Experience the opportunity to remain in Israel and study at Mayanot for an additional ten days after the conclusion of their trip, sponsored by Avrohom and Hindy Silver. Please note that this scholarship is only available immediately following the Mayanot birthright israel Experience and (at this point) does not include airfare back to Israel at a later time.
To the above, you can add the Knights of Columbus, the Daughters of the Confederacy, the Daughters of the British Empire, the Yale Alumni Scholarship Funds, the Asian-American Journalists Association, League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), American Indian Movement (AIM)...
The fact is each organization is dedicated to the service of a particular segment of our society and it's perfectly legal. When you get rich, you can grant scholarships to just students who have your last names (or first names) , who come from your city, who have blue eyes, who can play the accordeon or whatever and it'll be your choice.

they only give out money to those going to historically black colleges (and you also have to have a high gpa, etc). But, regardless of your race, you can get funding to go to these historically black colleges.
