This is how the original King Kong vs Godzilla went: In the final battle they both fall into the ocean, and only King Kong emerges and swims to shore.
Now, if you've seen any Godzilla movies, you'll know that Godzilla is a very adept swimmer, since he lives in the ocean 90% of the time, (the other 10% being when he is squishing Tokyo!)
So I have no doubt that Godzilla would eat the giant monkey underwater. The reason he is thought to have lost in the movie, is because that's how they wanted to portray it. At the time, Kong was more popular with American audiences, so, to win the audience over, they "let" Kong win. Godzilla's role in his original movie was to scare people!!! He was a monster stomping on the city. He was meant to be the villain. So facing him against Kong, it makes sense they would let the "hero" win.
However.... since those days Godzilla has become a sort of anti-hero, and has become more popular with the general audiences. Let's look at the track record.... Godzilla: 28 movies. King Kong: 7
As for land, I still vote for Godzilla. I mean, he's RADIOACTIVE!!! He has near infinite regenerative abilities, making him able to recover from ANYTHING Kong could dish out. And his radioactive breath would toast Kong if it hit him. The only advantage Kong has is speed. But when you get down to it, he's just a really really big ape. Godzilla has been completely mutated and given super-powers!
Godzilla has fought a lot of tough enemies over the years, and despite a few near-death experiences, he has always come back to take his rightful crown as KING OF THE MONSTERS!

Godzilla may have bigger teeth, but that's the only advantage it has over King Kong. King Kong, being a warm blooded animal, would be far faster, like how a man would be faster than an komono dragon. If King Kong could avoid Godzilla's superheated bad breath and grab him from the behind, Godzilla will be done for, and Japan will have lost its national heritage.

I also love godzilla. They actually had a movie many many many many many years ago where godzilla did vs King Kong. Funny thing is it came out somewhat even. Neither died but I think though I am not 100% sure Kong gave up first. The movie ended with them both walking to thier natural habitats. I believe godzilla I was very young when I saw it on tv and my sister and I had a bet she loved king kong better. I think it was called godzilla vs kong but not sure

You need to rent the movie "Godzilla Versus King Kong." In fact, you need to rent both the American and Japanese version, because it goes one way in Japanese version and the other way in the American version. I am willing to bet you can guess which was which...
