Of course you remembered to take out the last tampon you used, right? Could be a serious problem if you didn't.

Assuming you did, I have to agree that you are probably too tense. It can be hard to relax those muscles. Change positions to squatting, or lying down (lying down probably best). With tampon in position, breathe in through your nose and imagine the breath going right through your lungs and down into the area the tampon will be in. Visualize it. With practice (3-4 times at least) the muscles should start to relax. Then while still relaxed, insert the tampon. Might help to put a little lubricant on it, if you have a plastic applicator I understand some girls dip it VERY BRIEFLY under water, otherwise you'd need some lubricating jelly like KY, don't use vaseline.

This can happen at any age, so learn to relax those muscles. Also, kegal exercises can help (google it, lots of instructions online).

You are tensing your vaginal muscles. Reread the package insert and be sure you are placing the tampon correctly. Use a lubricant like KY Jelly. NEVER use vasoline. Get the lightest absorbency. Try a junior or lite. You have years to perfect this. Relax.

Try applying it like it says on the package, sometimes this hapens when you are inserting the applicator at a bad angle. You can also try OB tampons, they don't use applicators so its easier.I feel the same way about pads, hope this helps.

The only way is to relax. Lay down with your legs bent. And as you are inserting it, inhale, but you must relax.
