Try buying an old-fashioned non-disposable razor where you only replace the blade. It's much cheaper, better for the environment, and our fathers and grandfathers got excellent shaves with them even if the didn't have 28 blades on each head. Or go electric.

Yeah, they're way overpriced. Like you say, many brands of razors require a special shaving head that is only made by the manufacturer of the razor. In those cases, buying generics or cheaper blades are not an option.

IMHO, those companies should reward customers who choose to buy their razors with reasonably-priced replacement blades, instead of price-gouging them!

Because they can get people to buy them thinking that they are better than the other cheaper ones. Many people feel that if it costs more it's better. When you buy them, you are paying for there advertising costs and packaging etc. Also multiple blades cost a little more to manufacture, but I doubt if it's that much more. I remember when pocket calculators first came out, it cost the manufacturer three cents to add a extra button, but they would raise the price of the calculator by as much as a dollar.

Yeah, they are ridiculous. I think it's because they have like multiple blades in them or something. I don't know, but they cost way too much. All razors cost too much, though. Venus razors cost about the same, and you go through them so fast!

It's called price gouging!!!! Gillette knows it has a good product so they stick it to us. The 5 blade version for example, is the biggest bs ever seen....How much smoother or faster do you need to shave?....c'mon!!!

I agree! Maybe it's because they have 17 blades each, and there's a pound and a half of stainless steel in each one?

Maybe it's what the market will bear?
