You could start treating your male and female passengers equally. My dad swears you're the best but I've now opted for Malaysia Airlines as the Singapore stewardesses were so rude to me on one flight in particular and to a lesser extent on others. Do you not like single female travellers? I only asked for a coke and didn't ring my bell, it was on a routine round and I did say please. I don't expect the stewardeses to giggle and take the piss thinking I can't hear or something. The kebaya is fine, beautiful in fact, as our most of the staff.

I think the look (the kebaya, smile and grace, as well as the food) of SIA Girls is the best in the world, but the service (taste, in the case of the food) is lacking...
Not sure of long distant flights, but I frequently fly regional with various airlines for the convenience of timing schedule, and i found the service from other airlines like CathayPacific, ChinaAirlines, ThaiAir, etc were a notch above that of SQ.
maybe i'm bias.... or maybe because i'm an economy class asian in cheap clothings...

I think Singapore Girl carries themselves very well in the present outfit. Many other airlines may have the same outfit but if you observe carefully, each is different and how the girls carry themselves make the difference. The current outfit is elegant and practical. It is Asian flavour - feminine, friendly, soft look but strong in character. Don't think there is any need to change. May be we need a new accessory or something on the hair to give a new look every 2 years. The important thing is Singapore Girl is able to keep the high standard of service. But we certainly do not want some rude passenger to think that they can take advantage of their good nature.

Come up with a uniform identity that's "uniquely Singaporean" - not "too malay" or traditional as in current kebaya - a touch of Chinese, Malay, Indian fashion in a visual treat that's chic yet functional - the worse you can do is to allow "western fashion" sense to dominate. This will certainly kill off the allure of the "Singapore Girl".
Other area to upgrade: language proficiency (bear in mind SQ also employs foreign girls - malaysian education standard in particular is definitely poor).

Its a tired cliche that long outlives its usefulness. Low fare is what on every body mind. Companies provide business class travels for 5 hrs and above, if at all. Sure, why not, I would love to be pampared by beautiful smiling stewardesses. The peasant in us in then get to boast to our envious friends about how we got treated on our flights all the way from Chennai to Boston.

The image is fine (except for the blue eyeshadow), I agree with jumbo but the service definitely has to improve.
Had a similar experience on a flight to Sydney, but it was race-based, not gender. Will not go into it here cos it is a long, ugly story.
The other thing is that the level of English needs to be improved. Imagine my shock when I heard "Sorry Sir, that stock no more" from our esteemed SIA girl. Enough said

i think... if you have not much money, Vietnam gals is better. if you have a lot of money, still vietnam gals is better. Depends on what you are looking for ? Someone naive, innocent or smart? Singapore gals won't marry anyone unless he is reasonably wealthy and reasonably smart.

i would much prefer if they have a change of attitude and service level instead of just the outward image, am fine with the baju kurung but maybe beside teaching them how to put on makeup, they should be taught how not to colorized people and maybe speak a bit better english, i am not asking for oxford english. Having said, maybe as customers we should also examine ourselves. (JMHO)
