The man I slept with for 2 yrs told me 3 wks ago that he up and left because he saw no future for us and now has emailed me to say Hi. Why would he do this if he basically told me it was over?

He wants to have you around to sleep with you occasionlly, or he is sorry that its over and wants you back. Either one I would, If I were you, never talk to him again, Move on with your life and find a man the deserves you and one that you can trust. My 2 cents

Because he still wants to sleep with you without any commitment. He figures you will tell him to come over and talk and you'll end up in bed because you will think that is the way of getting him back into your life but he only wants the sex part. He hasn't had much luck since he left you and wants you to be Plan B. Don't fall for it.

He could "want his cake and eat it too". He doesn't want to have a commitment to you, but he still wants your friendship, or maybe a friendship "with privileges". He could also be reconsidering his actions of three weeks ago. Regardless of why he is trying to contact you, you are now in control. Do you want to be his "friend"? Decide what you want, then decide if you should contact him. If you decide to contact him, be prepared to have your heart broke again. He could be trying to ease his consience about hurting you.

My ex used to break up with me every time he found some new woman that he wanted to chase after~ and once he realized she didn't want him he'd come crawling back to me! They figure that they have you hooked so they can use you now. I'd just ignore him and go on with my life if I was you! He's just gonna continue to break your heart if you fall for his crap!

Maybe he thinks he can make a convenience of you, or maybe he just wants to be on good terms with you. Perhaps he cannot stand to be disapproved of. You cannot guess, you need to ask him.
