Lighter replacement parts would help with the HP to weight ratio. Any change to a more powerful electric motor would help, but would also require considerably more battery power and your range would be reduced.

I don't view hybrid cars as something to modify for more power. They are largely a statement by the owners to show environmental awareness and concern. As such, any modifications would be geared towards maximum efficiency and reduction in emissions (source or locally).

The Rice boys in their Honda Civics will tell you that you need a big muffler and shiny rims. What do they know? :)

Why did you buy a Hybrid car if you want more power? That makes as much sense as someone buying a Honda, Mitsubishi or any other import and wanting power. At the end of the day its still a piece of s&&t car that all they did was added trinkets on for power. If you truly want a car with power get a good job or start a very lucartive buisness and buy a lotus, lamborgini, porsche etc. Not a cheap honda with a grape fruit exhaust that sounds like someone who has food poisioning sitting on toilet when you are driving it.

While the engines in today's hybrids could respond to the same tweaks as other cars, the hard part is finding performance parts for it. If you want a turbocharged Prius, for example, I'm pretty sure you would need to have the kit custom built. But once you had it made and installed, it would add power to it just like any other engine.

sure if you can find someone who makes them, none are available as of now and that would pretty much defeat the purpose of a hybrid
