Darcy's proposal may seem more proud to us today, but he was only acknowledging the truths of his time. Collins really had an over inflated image of himself and couldn't, at first, believe that Elizabeth would turn him down. He thought he was a great catch for her, whereas Darcy was admitting that he couldn't resist her, unlike though their social stations were.

I think Darcy is more proud.
Collins persists even though she has shown she doesn't want him while Darcy because of his pride continually insults her during the proposal (the first one anyway)
I read it a long time ago.

Darcy. He totally seems to be degrading her as he's telling Elizabeth that he loves her. Talking about inferior birth, and whatnot.
