You're taking a narrow view of "competition". True, some competition is destructive. But most is extremely productive. "Healthy" competition leads to advancements in every human endeavor - science, politics, philosophy, etc. The net result, competition inevitably leads to higher forms of civilization. That is why, despite the perpetual presence of competition in the human condition, you are tapping on a keyboard in your heated house rather than painting on a cave wall wondering where your next meal will come from.

to apply a generalization upon civilization is counter productive, you dont know that by my perception my thoughts may be the reverse,
to enter a competition is to compete ,to win ,to succeed either to obtain a personal goal or to achieve the accolades of your peers, again you are applying a catchall phrase that does not stand up to scrutiny, you can enter in competition with others as in a team, to succeed as a team you must first learn to work with the cooperation of others. we has humans have the capacity to alienate our selves from each other or to instigate alienation of others dependant upon the laws of our/your society. as evolution dictates we can be alone or in a pack it is the laws we pass that have a bearing on the behaviour of the pack and the individual, wether considered uncivilized is dependant upon your own societies laws. Civilization is civilized by definition. Competition is the opposite of cooperation, but calling it "the death" of cooperation is over-dramatic. Sorry, but sometimes the truth is boring.
