As a current cheer coach I would suggest that you contact your local gymastic facility and see if they offer a cheer course. Many of them do. They can give you the basics on tumbling and jumps, and usually do so in record time.

I would also attend games where the cheerleaders are performing and video tape them. This will allow you to practice the routines at home, allowing you to stop and start the tape while you learn the cheers and chants at your own speed.

Videos are available to buy, they can sometimes be costly, and often do not teach the specific cheers that your school is doing. The judges will be impressed by your knowledge and willingness to learn.

On try out day, go in with confidence. Know your routines forwards and backwards. Keep smiling and show lots of energy!
Keep your movements sharp and in proper form. Most of all
Good Luck!

well first you need to be flexible strtch every chance you get 2nd there are videos you can order at justforkix.com and cheerleading.com try which ever one you want to and when you go to tryouts dont look like you sont know what you are doing becaus e then they will think thats true and just doo your best and if they want you to try something try it because your spot on the team may depend on it!
Good Luck!
