Drinking alot of water, as much as you can stand. Depending on symptoms use Tylenol Cold caplets, preferably the kind that make you drowsy. Weather you have a sore throat or not as many cough suppressants you can stand. Also if you have alot of mucus, spitting out every single bit that comes up and not swallowing it. But really the all around best way is to drink loads of water and sleep alot. To me that's the very fastest way to get rid of the funk. Also hold a hot as you can stand it wash cloth on your head should you have a headache, the heat knocks out the pain.

Time, bedrest, and lots of Vitamin C.

Don't use anything to lower a fever when you have the flu.

A fever is your body's natural response to fighting infection, and at body temperatures over 100 deg(F), the flu virus loses it's ability to reproduce, and your body is able to fight the infection.
