Were you in a group like the scouts or girl guides.
And are they still popular today.

I was in the Sea Scouts and the abuse I got was unbelievable, but it was worth it to go climbing, sailing, canoeing, wind-surfing and all the other things everyone else wish they could have done.

It's still not popular though

I was a Brownie Girl Scout for 1 year, a Junior Girl Scout for 1 year and a Cadette Girl Scout for 1 year. Yes, they are still very popular. I am now the leader for 2 Girl Scout troops, a leader in Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts and Venturing (Part of Boy Scouts, but co-ed ages 14-20) I was just camping this weekend for a Scout competition and there were 38 patrols competing.

When I was a lot younger I was in the Brownies and Girl Guides, then I became a Cub Leader, now we have Beavers for the very young kids, Cubs, Scout and Ranger Scouts and yes they are still popular and going strong in lots of towns and cities today.

I was a brownie and a girl scout. Both of these are good organizations if you have mothers who know how to organize and treat everyone fairly. I don't know if they're still popular? I suppose so since girl scout cookies are still being sold.

Also went to camp foxtail......hated that experience.

No, which seemed unusual back in the 1970s when everyone seemed to be in something. They still seem poplar thoug there are now alternatives such as Woodland Folk for those who find Scouts etc. too militaristic. 'Scouting for Boys', by Scouts founder Baden-Powell, is still in print but may well be purchased for the innuendo that can be read into the title.

Yes I was in the Scouts. They are still going strong in Doncaster (UK) Depends very much on the people running the group as to how well they do and if its worth joining.

Was in sea-scouts as a kid

i think the scouts are more middle class these days & working class kids aren't into it that much at all.

I never bothered with these groups, even as a kid I had my own path in life. My sisters were in a lot of these things between them over the years but I never went along myself. As far as I know these institutions are still running these days and are still popular, perhaps not quite as popular.
