An overwhelming majority of you vote Democrat, claiming that this party "helps" black people. I would like to know specifically how? I asked this similar question on a previous thread and did not get a good answer. Some of the answers included, "Democrats favor welfare, affirmative action, raising the minimum wage..." Do you as black citizens feel stereotyped by these statements? Like they think you can't get jobs so you need a program to "give" you a job (affirmative action)? Or they think that because you are black you are on welfare? Or if you have a job you are only making minuimum wage?

I find all of this incredibly insulting to the black population and wonder why more of you aren't speaking out against and voting against some of the elected officials who are promising you all of this stuff to get your votes?

I also want to ask, what do rich, white, elitist politicians like Hillary Clinton, Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and Al Gore have to offer you?

Hey, Mr. America...suck on this:
It was a GOP Congesss who in 1871 passes the Enforcement Act giving black voters federal protection, only to be repealed by Dem G. Cleveland. In 1922, the GOP wanted to make lynching a federal crime. This was filibustered by the Dems. Eisenhower's 1960 Civil Rights Act was also filibustered by the Dems. Johsnon's Civil Rights Act finally went thru after KKK member, R. Byrd (D. W-Va) tried to lead a filibuster. Pres. Ford and Regan promoted the first Black 4-star generals of the Air Force and Army. Reagan declared MLK Day a nat'l holiday. President Reagan named Colin Powell America's first black national-security adviser while GOP President George W. Bush appointed him our first black secretary of state. George W. Bush appointed C/ Powell our first black secretary of state and C. Rice our second. GOP government programs are geared toward helping poor communites with providing economic freedoms, not the social programs that act as band-aids.

In an election, people generally vote for the candidate that offers them more than the other.

In this case, using your assessment, a majority of blacks feel that Democrats offering better social programs is more than what the Republicans are offering.

So if the Republicans want the black vote, they would have to convince them how tax cuts that benefit the wealthy, drilling for oil in Alaska, and curbing free speech are better for them.

Maybe if the Republicans had a comprehensive plan that addressed urban blight while raising the standard of living for those in our society, black, white, hispanic, etc., they would garner more votes from the urban areas.

Ah yes the Republican "we're in trouble, time to smooch some minority backside" shuffle.

If you want to talk to black americans, you might consider joining one of the Armed Services, particularly the US Army. Many African Americans (especially in economically depressed areas, and in case you didnt know there are a lot of those and not just blacks live there) feel the only way they even have a shot at a college education is to join the service under the GI Bill. But if you do go over, you better hurry: They're being killed off pretty quickly. Of course, that happens when you're sent into combat with inadequate or nonexistant armor, looking for WMDs which don't exist. And it was the current Republican president who cut soldiers' pay and benefits, to the point where a PFC or Cpl with a spouse and 2 children is typically on the US Foodstamp program. But again, this fact has nothing to do with skin color. Maybe if you and other Republicans didn't focus quite so much on that aspect of voters (skin color), you could maybe pull off that "Compassionate Conservative" label you keep trying to drape yourself in. You remember that dont you?

Mr america, for starters, Abe Lincoln took them out of slavery. In In the civil rights act of 1964 it was the republicans that gave it. Democrates voted against it. ie Robert Byrd D-WVA. That's a just for starters.
