I'm not too hot on computers and i have downloaded a new internet explorer which has slowed my laptop down too.

I recommend that you go to http://www.download.com and get AD-AWARE and SpyBot Search & Destory. Install, run, update and scan your computer with both programs.
These are cleanup tools. Ad-aware cleans files, and SpyBot cleans the registry,
You might run your Anti-virus scan.
Go to START and pick RUN. Type MSCONFIG and go to the startup section. Uncheck the programs that you do not need. Keep your Anti-virus checked.

If you are talking about IE7 it is a mess. Down load Firefox from Mozilla.com and use that until microsoft gets a decent patch or upgrade for IE7 ---- Better yet go to add/remove programs and remove IE7 and just use Firefox you will be amazed at the speed increase. PS DO NOT REMOVE IE7 until you load download FIREFOX -- that would be silly, right....

These people are telling you about internet explorers, but to speed up your whole computer buy some "RAM", laptops are not the biggest in upgrading. So thats the best way to speed it up.

I have heard that IE7 can slow the performance of your system. I would take the advice of previous posts and use Mozilla as your principal means to surf the net.
