I think you'll find that most scientific evidence points to sexual orientation being primarily genetic and/or biological.

This person is a complete ****.

We all know that if you gay it is something that we can not help. It is something that is determined when we are born. And the same applies to the "straight" society. I say straight, but let me tell you that many a times have I had fun with "straight" guys.

A persons sexuality is determined by the male and female hormones within an individual. Obviously a straight woman would be born with more female hormones and a straight man with more male hormones. In a gay man would be hormones mainly of a female and a gay girl mainly hormones of a male (To all those that already kno what I am chatting about, just trying to simplify things for the brainless, what good it will do?)

However sometimes it can be found that a straight man that acts very feminine, may NOT be gay, but may just have the feminine gene that deters high pitched voice, or more feminine actions. Same for the girls, but visa versa.

Oh yeah and p.s, I think if you are subjected to "gay" environments and experiences, first of all you must be 16, legally, to experience gay sex and 18 to drink in "gay" environments (bars & clubs) So you gotta be if not already gay, then one of these that are curious, and my guess is that YOU would have been for some time.

You know it would be much easier if you were just to be happy with yourself and accept who you are and get a life. We all do, and we are a lot more happier for it.

Thanks for the two points anyway ****

Yes, I believe people are born gay. The scientific community is still doing research on the "gay gene[s]." They've had some success. See links below.

I do know that people are not born bigots. They become bigots. I use "bigot" because people like the asker are acting out of prejudice, more than out of fear (so-called homophobia).

So I take you are talking about the influence of heredity vs. environment in the determination of sexual preference. And you are claiming that it's 100% environmental. Of course that isn't a question, but so what; I'll comment.

Research has already demonstrated that heredity is at least partially responsible same-sex preference, in both twin studies, separated at birth and genetic studies. And just like whether or not your post is a question, it's a big so what. And your point is????

One IS born gay, hence why animals have a sexuality. It has been shown that 7% of rams are gay - one cannot put that down to their environment, over protective mother or some other crack pot idea...

lies! Seriously, think about it. Gay and lesbian people come from every culture, religion, nationality, family situation, geographic region - and the world's a diverse place. In some places it's not easy to be gay - it's punishable by death. Do you really think someone would CHOOSE to be gay in a culture that forbids it? Their environment and experience does everything it can to prevent gays and lesbians from existing, and yet they still do. It's not experience and environment.

A combination of both or neither. If being gay is genetic, after fifty more years, gays will be extinct. Gay's do not produce offspring and will not pass on genetic code. If being gay is environmental effected, then changing the environment will eliminate gays. I think over the past thousands of years, religion and government fought hard to change the environment to eliminate gays. If being gay is spiritual or reincarnation, gays will always exist. If a woman in a previous life ends up in a man's body, the man will have gay tendencies. If being gay is due to reincarnation, genetics and environment will have no effect.

Since the 60's, being gay has lost the stigma, yet there is no downturn results in the population of gay people. The environment has changed dramatically and still no change in people being gay. The sudden increase in the 60's is more people coming out of the closet.

Oh, well in the face of that overwhelming evidence, clearly I must cede the point. Hell, with facts like that, i don't know why there's even an argument anymore in the scientific community!

My dear friend, although I agree with the facts that you've just stated, i'm afraid you're fighting a losing battle trying to get this across to all of the people in today's society. It seems that we pick, choose, and distort the information that science gives us and use it to benefit the purposes that we want it to benefit. Don't forget that homosexuals are in science, also.

I do not know what rock you have been hiding under, but it has been shown through unbiased scientific studies that people ARE born gay.
