I stayed home for 7 years after the birth of my first child. I liked it, could have used some mental stimulation, but I was happy being home.

It makes a huge difference in how the house runs, as all the housekeeping and cooking, and shopping normally falls on the partner at home.

I work outside the home full time now, and my weekends are spent doing laundry and shopping for the week to come. Whatever housekeeping doesn't get done, waits. Oh, well.....

Yes, most of the homemakers out there, I believe. I stayed home for ten years to raise my children. I do believe it was the best decision I've ever made. I raised my children myself, with my own standards and values, I didn't have to rely on shotty day care centers or nursery schools to take care of my kids, I didn't have to shuffle my kids back and forth from place to place, they grew up in a solid, strong home environment, and have grown to be two of the most responsible and well rounded young adults I've seen today. It makes a huge difference, if one is able to stay at home. It has certainly become a luxery by today's standards. Who the hell *wouldn't* like that??

I don't. Me and a few of my friends are housewives and since we live in different towns (in different states) we're bored silly. I don't mean we don't have work... we just don't get to have any stimulating conversation. I love my kids and enjoy being home with them but I'm also a workaholic and really miss working. Staying home makes me feel like I don't contribute anything...and yes I know that it's an important job raising your kids. BUT total strangers and some idiot family members act like staying home is just leeching off my husband and not doing anything. It's been a major self esteem killer for me. I can't wait til my youngest is old enough for school and I can go back to work at least part time.

I am sometimes, i say that because when my love goes on a job out of state i go with him sometimes and help, and when i am home which is most of the time i love it, miss him, but i get to do alot of things that i normally wouldn't be able to if i was working, and i like a clean house and car so i have plenty of time to take care of my self and it is me that i have to answer to no one else, so yes i love it.

I do. Much better than working for someone else.. I prefer to be home. However, I am currently working a Corp job as to put my husband thru medical school in our 40's. Not much fun.. but the pay off will be great.

Enjoy being home! no better place for you.

No and I certainly wouldn't like it. Besides from a few friends mom's, who I certainly didn't get to know well, the only 'home maker' I knew was my aunt and she only stayed home because she had an untreated anxiety disorder which didn't allow for her to work. My mother worked and I think it's great!
