We have electromagnetic trains in prototype status. They travel on one track. They are build from electromagnets what require adding energy to move. So what if build tunels made from constant magnets to create “magnetic rivers” with magnetic force constantly leading into one direction? To start traveling we would only have to put a “magnetic boat” into tunel and to stop we would have to take it off from tunel. Would it be more free from energy need to move? What speed it could allow? As I understand economicaly it seems wrong when thinking only about small area, but I am rather thinking about creating worldwide net of such “rivers”. Sorry for my far sight into future, but honestly I am hoping you are really going to speed up with research and change your economy to work with real efficiency ... and I hope I will see you in Universe space soon (even by this technology). I mean colonies, not turism.

Like roads I mean two tunels of both directions. Inside surface made from rings of smal magnets directed by one pole to the center on angle needed to atract object to move in one direction. All other problems i am hoping engeneers will solve out. That is it.

If you suggest putting a big massive magnet at the end of a track, such that this magnet can attract the train from kilometers away and pull it towards it, I can think of three major flaws.

1) Once the train gets to the end, How the heck do we get it back? The attraction in one direction would be enormous. And the free ride one way would be more than offset by the energy needed to come back.
2) Other objects could become stuck in magnetic rivers with disastrous results.
3) The speed through the magnetic tunnel could not be controlled easily.
