A 455 is a 455 no matter what GM car it is in. Pontiac's were popular for building but the motor is still a 455. Chev, Pontiac, Buick, Cadillac. There may have been some minor mods to the appearance of the motor, especially on the top by the division of GM that built it. Remember, the saying used to be "There is no substitute for cubic inches" If you are going to try to build this motor, someone in your family should own a gas station. Try ebay for parts and help.

First of all, to clear a few things up:
A Buick 455 is not the same as a Pontiac 455 or a Chevy 454 or the Olds 455. Totally different animals. I'm a Pontiac guy, so I know what I'm looking at. The problem is that everybody is a Chevy head, so everybody thinks that all the older engines were the same, and just like a Chevy. Not so at all.

well for one it is not a big block although most people dont realize buick and olds have medium blocks never had a big block and they never will the deck height is short on those motors unlike pontiac and chevy which have big blocks but the buick 455 stock is about 300 hp maybe if you are lucky they have pistons you can eat soup out of low hp but lots of torque they were desined for economy and torque not heart pounding tire burning hp but you can buy everything you need for that medium block to make it an animal if you want to through that kinda money away.....fool everyone drop in a pontiac 455 built with a mild cam ( sleeper motor) and trash the compitition.....

While the 455 is a good motor, you will find that it is a high speed motor and not a low end torque..Your car has a high speed rear end...

Ditto on lots of parts available. These motors are used in quite a few jet boats in CA and AZ.
