Why does someone need $250 million to play soccer for a US team?

Beckham is getting that much to play soccer here. I don't see why he needs to be paid so much. Yes, he's really good but still it's a sport and no one is worth that much.

Many feel the same as you do, but it is only going to get worse. Sports contracts and movie contracts are going to continue to sky rocket. These people are greedy and once they get a taste they want even more. Some I think, think they are Gods gift to the world. Its pathetic but sadly it will not be going away. They all should not be paid even close to as much as they do. Just imagine of a big chunk of their pay was used for better purposes to benefit society. Hell, imagine being able to afford to go to a football game with your family AND afford to eat there. Or taking your family to the movies, imagine being able to do that for a smaller price. As long as people keep filling stadiums and movie theaters, the longer these people will get paid like they do. We pay their salaries unfortunately. And most of them do not appreciate it. As much as I love being an American, there are just so many things not right in this country, greed being one of them.

Nobody needs that much. He'd have taken the job if he was offered half as much I imagine. (which he stillisn't worth)

I agree with you on the rest of it. It makes me utterly sick.
I just hope him and his pouting vacuous wife do something really worthy with it.

they're trying to suck up to him, they're trying to show that they got money...but i bet they can't get another famous GREAT player with that kind of money!
