Hey Dude,

I am the Network Manager for a school district in Wisconsin. I can talk with you more offline about this.

1. Do not put any pictures or email addresses on the web page. Do not give anyone the ability to contact you.
2. Make the web page for official school business. DO NOT give any para-school organizations hosting option on your web site. In other words, do not allow wrestling, football, PTA/PTO etc.. access on your site. EVERYTHING posted on your site is official property. Anything that is out there IS your responsibility. If one of these organizations posts something that is not good, your district would be liable.
3. Have only 1 webmaster who oversees everything.
4. Divide your web pages by school building, and do not cross boundaries.
5. NOT STUDENT INFO is allowed.
6. KEEP IT SIMPLE.
7. When able, make the web site secure. DO SSL and require passwords for certain areas.
