I seem to have been over rigorous in deleting files on my Toshiba SA 50 laptop. When I try to boot it up a message appears NTLDR is missing. Press Ctrl + Alt + Del to restart. This unfortunately doesn't help at all - can you?

Get the windows install CD and boot from that, go into repair console mode, log in to the windows install and do FIXBOOT and FIXMBR

You have deleted the file that boot windows and one of these commands fixes it (doesn't hurt to do both)

As far as I know, NTLDR is one of the most important files that will help you to continue your computer boot up. Since, it was deleted accidentally( I suppossed?). I think the best way u could do is to find your "Recovery Disk" that is bundle to your laptop. that will help you to restore the original settings.

Honeslty, I'm not familiar with NTLDR so for safety purposes, it is advisable to search the missing file to give you an idea what it is all about.

I hope this will help you to solve your problem. goodluck!

It sounds like your laptop is trying to boot from non bootable media. Take the CD out of the CD ROM drive, unplug any USB memory sticks, try it again.

If it still doesn't work, you need to go into the BIOS and reselect your primary partition as the first boot media.

Cheers.

Unless you have used Attrib.exe on NTLDR.EXE to unhide it then you won't have deleted it. Most common reason for this error is that you have a non-bootable floppy in your floppy drive and the floppy is higher in the "what to boot from first" list in BIOS.

IF you dont have a recovery disk already
Call toshiba and ask them for a RECOVERY disk, if you had the computer for a while you'll have to pay for it.

No Biggie... Actually you just need to remove any disks or cd's from their respectable drives.
