The phone box i.e. where the wire from the telephone goes in to the socket in the wall broke. I bought a new one in a local hardware store. The new one is completely different to the one I owned previously, there are four connectors yellow green red and black n the box and the telephone wire from the wall has red blue green and brown. Any ideas how to wire this up or a website that will tell me. Any help appreciated

Red black green and yellow are very old BT core colours, so I dont know why your new box is marked with them!! Are you in the UK?? The outlet box should have 6 terminals.

The new phone wire should tell you what goes where. If may even be on a new phone jack packaging. If not do a trail and error until you get it right. Then I would write on the side of the new phone jack what colors go with what so if you have to do this somewhere else again, you can refer back to it.

unless you have two lines the red and green are the only ones you need red to red and green to green

You need to work out which colour wire(s) connect to which-numbered terminals.
the site below should help you sort it all out.
