There are three most common typesof pots used for house plants. These areplastic, unglazed clay and glazed ceramic. The type of pot to use is a matter ofpreference, however, keep in mind thatthe type of pot you choose will affect how often you will need to water your plant. Water evaporates quickly in unglazed clay pots, which would result in more frequent watering. Glazed ceramic pots and plastic pots hold water longer, and you won't have to water as often. The only other difference in the three is the price, obviously!

Any type of pot will do as long as it has drainage holes and a dish to hold excess water. The biggest indoor plant mistake is watering. Too much water looks the same as if they are not getting enough water so check carefully. Let them drain and dry out before giving more water.

Any kind of pot as long as there is a saucer or something underneath the pot, to protect the floors and to keep roots from going out the drain holes searching for brighter horizons.

Clay pots are best, but plastic are okay. With all pots put small rocks over holes to keep dirt from washing out.

Clay pots have been used for years. If you like you can paint or decorate them. Once done, and with a plant in them, they also make excellent personalized gifts.

Whatever suits your fancy. But always use drip pans underneath the pots and sometimes even then be careful of water stains, so check them on occasion.
