House plants can be purchased anytime of the year, but you do need to be cautious when selecting a plant. Examine the foliage carefully for insects, damaged leaves or stems and also excess pruning. The plant may have a disease which resulted in the store owner pruning away the damaged areas. Purchase healthy plants that have all of their foliage ifpossible. Depending on what time of the year you purchase the plant, the plant may or may not be ready to bloom.Helpful Hint: Each plant will have to adjust to the new environment in your home. Be patient. The leaves may wilt for a while or even fall off temporarily as it adjusts. Don't panic. Care for the plant as usual and watch it for a couple of weeks.

I would say during the warmer times of the year: Spring, Summer, and very early Fall. This way you don't need to worry about keeping the plant protected from the cold while it gets used to its new location. The moving part is stressful enough for the plant. It is best not to add climate stress on top of it.

any time of year ! Although alot of the stores have house plants in them right now you just need to be careful when you take them outside if the weather is colder where you live.So right now like I went in to home depot the other day and boy did they have a nice selection of plants!I live in Montana and right now it is very cold so you might want to have the clerk double bag your plant and dont keep it out side long!

You can purchase house plants all year at some nurseries,(Wal-mart in the spring). If you buy or get them from a friend in the winter, make sure they are covered good.

If you're going to keep them indoors or in a climate controlled greenhouse, any time of yesr. If it is freezing, keep the plant wrapped until safely inside. I would say spring or summer is the BEST time, though.
