But I don't think anyone will give me a job outside teaching. What should I be looking into for alternative careers?

It is always best to work for yourself, with your education, you would be well suited to help people make there decisions about real estate, mortgage, finance.

Being a resource that people caught in the grip of these decisions would be a great help to our society. Charge a flat fee, and help with the pro and con of the decisions that people have before them.

My mother need to move out of state for health reasons. My sister who owned part of the mortgage on my mothers house, wanted to sell the house. I offered my sister $30K for the house if she would take back a mortgage. The house had an outstanding loan of $5,000 with monthly payments of $150. Because my sister did not understand what my offer meant to her and my mother she walked away confused. I could not explain what I was offering without sounding like a "cheap opportunist". I was willing to accept the mortgage as I said plus the requirement to pay the outstanding loan. I was waiting for a counter offer;

If your service was available, you could of directed my sister and saved her and my mother a lot of heartaches.

Gosh you're very academic and very qualified! Anyway, you should try and get legal business law experience. You could start by helping small businesses or start-ups set up their legal structures appropriatley and charge them a fee for that..

It's much better than what you could get paid as a teacher. Or you could try and work for free for a major corp/business law firm and get some experience that way, then apply for jobs elsewhere or start your own firm.
