my friends parents rule her too much. they won't listen to her she is being forced to stay on for six form next year when she really don't want to she wants to be apprentice at a garage as she wants to be a machanic. her parents want her to be a dentist. even shes said it her self shes not brighter enough to be a dentist.
another reason they want her to stay on is so they don't loose the childs benifit money. now how cruel is that. i want some advice to give to her so she can make her own decison.

i personally would run away from that house. it's good to know that friends as supportive as you are still in this world. i want to help you genuinely. i think your friend must talk to her parents [in your presence, she would feel more stronger] if they still don't listen or reason out, maybe a much more bigger step has to be taken. tell her to be strong and go by gut feeling. tell her to do what she feel is right. MY BEST WISHES WITH YOU ALL. pls try to inform me hoe things go

Believe me it costs them a great deal more to feed and clothe her than they get in child benefit! At the age of 16, leaving school and becoming a mechanic may sound like a marvellous idea, but staying on and getting good A levels then going on to get a degree will open up so many more opportunities for her. It's very hard to get that across to young people, I know from bitter experience. I went to work instead of going to University like I was supposed to much to my parents' horror. The consequences of that are that I earn about 1/3 of what I could/should be earning and even worse than that I am bored rigid by my job, which is so unfulfilling it's not true. Trust me, her parents are doing the right thing - she may not want to be a dentist and her parents can't make her do that, but if she gets the best qualifications she can she will have so many more choices in life.

You never said her age,but i would say hey go for what you want and do for you..we sometimes never get to do the thing we want in life,if she has the chance i say go for it,but her parents need to support her not for her to stay for the money..Sometimes evenparents can be damn selfish
