I bought a sweatshirt while working for a company and had thier logo stitched onto the front, now I no longer work for that company and would like to wear that swearshirt with out advertising for that company. Any help on the issue would be greatly appreciated.

Turn the garment inside out, you should see the stitching (sometimes there is a stabilizer sheet as well) You just snip the strands, being careful not to poke through the fabric. Once all the stands are snipped pull the threads out, then launder the fabric as normal. This should shrink down the fibers of the sweatshirt. Some of the holes may show through, but hopefully not.

I recently tried to do the exact same thing using a seam remover on a sweatshirt with the logo stitched onto it, very carefully and slowly. Not only it is time-consuming and hard on the eyes, I found that the knit fabric fell apart where the logo stitching was continuous and very tight in certain areas. Basically as they machine stitched the logo onto the sweatshirt, the knit fabric is disrupted such that when you remove the logo, those areas get very weakened and ends up torn. I was very careful and methodical, but still ended up with a sweatshirt with noticeable holes where the logo was. These holes may not look too bad in the beginning, but once you wash the shirt a few times, the fabric will give way and end up with bigger holes. I did this with 3 different sweatshirts, being more careful and slowly when removing the logo with each one, but the results were the same. I know I was very careful because I am used to doing small embroidery work and bead work. Of course if you want to risk it, you can try it yourself. But just be prepared to end up with a sweatshirt that will probably be damaged.

If perchance your sweatshirt is a dark color, like black, you can probably just use a permanent marker like a Sharpie to dye the logo black, making the logo almost disappear. The same thing can be done as long as the logo is white and the shirt has a much deeper color. It's not perfect, but it will do to save your sweatshirt from being a "holey" shirt! Good luck!

Turn it inside out. Use a seam ripper to remove the stitches. Wash and dry as usual.
