first relax. second, close it and unplug it from what ever you have it pulled into ( if you are charging it) third, put it in a place( like the kitchen) that doesnt have tons of heat. then wait an hour or so and then try to put it back on. if that doesnt work then go to your father and say, hey you know dad, i was using your laptop and it over heated, what sheuld i do. he should understand and will thank you for telling him. Also it might have had a low battery so try charging it by puting in the power coard

Calm down. Remove it from your bed so it can get some sort of ventilation and just let it cool down.
When it's no longer warm to the touch try to reboot it with the power key.
That should work, if not try the reset button.
It really shouldn't be broke forever.

sorry, but it looks like time is the only thing that'll help u here. it stopped cuz of overheating? well, it's certainly not broken forever, but i suggest you not touch it for a while. internal computer parts could fry at about 150* celsius, but i dont think that happened, so, it wouldnt be likely u broke it. just wait it out, if not you should get it repaired quick. check myprofile 4 my email and i can help u even more, cuz i screwed up my laptop that bad too, and i fixed it. so, contact me if u need help. k?

well everybody's answers are OK. I would also call the PC manufacturer and see if they had a recall on the battery for your laptop. That may have been a cause of the overheating.

Laptops are not for you lap, beds, or any other soft area. Keep them on a desk or other cool hard surface. They need air to circulate around them. Let the thing cool down and the restart.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
