I once spilled a Strawberry protein shake on my LAPTOP keyboard, and you know what that means- the hard drive is directly underneath! It sopped all over.
But I saw this commercial about this guy who dropped his laptop in the Amazon, and I believed it. I turned it on 2 weeks later, and it worked and I've used it for years since!

As many times as I've spilled coffee and soda and even beer on my desk, I've yet to actually spill anything on my keyboard. Now, since I just mentioned that I'm expecting to spill something here on my keyboard in the near future.....

let's see, once coffee, once coke, another time hot chocolate...lots of crap. No biggie. Take your keyboard apart, (just turn it over and take out those little screws), (unplug it first, of course). Then take the part that has the spill on it, bring it to the bathroom and rinse it off in the tub. Even if it's the printed circuit board itself, just rinse it well with regular lukewarm water. Allow it to dry thoroughly, then put it back together. It'll probably improve the overall performance of your keyboard.

I spilled iced tea into my keyboard at work about six months ago. I immediately cleaned it as much as I could...and it worked fine, at least for a few weeks...and then, it started getting all crazy. I'd hit buttons and all the wrong characters would type. I was typing sentences that looked like: "akejra89f39a!!$f"

Oh several times. Water once, coke once, and beer once. The beer and the water didn't have much effect on it, I just had to dry it out with some compressed air. The coke though, even though I dried it off, made the keys stick. I eventually had to open up the keyboard and clean everything inside with alcohol.

Spilled a packet of beads - those little tiny seed beads - once on a keyboard. Never was the same and died promptly.
