or a room at the Coronado Springs Resort. Coronado is much cheaper, the Contemporary is said to be a better hotel, but the Garden view rooms are just standard, ordinary rooms. Has anyone been to these hotels or have any input?

Thanks!

If I had the choice between Disney's Coronado Springs Resort and Disney's Contemporary Resort, I would definitely stay at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Of course, Disney's Cornado Springs Resort is much cheaper - it's only a Moderate Resort. Disney's Contemporary Resort is a Deluxe Resort. It was also one of the first Resorts to open along with the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971. The other Resort that opened that day was Disney's Polynesian Resort. I always stay at Disney's Polynesian Resort, but it's a bit more expensive than the other Resorts. Disney's Coronado Spring Resort is one of my favorite Moderate Resorts, but the Deluxe Resorts are just so much better. Even if you dont have the best view, you have a lot of other benefits you won't find at the Moderate Resorts. Disney's Contemporary Resort is home to three wonderful, popular restaurants - the California Grill, Chef Mickey's, and the Concourse Steakhouse. It's also home to Sammy Duvall's Watersports Centre where you can go boating, waterskiing, wakeboarding, jetskiing, parasailing, etc. I'd have to say, though, the absolute best part of Disney's Contemporary Resort is it's proximity to the Magic Kingdom and nearby Resorts. The Resort is right along the Monorail system, and actually, the Monorail goes right through the inside of the Resort and picks Guests up and drops them off right inside the lobby. It takes just a few minutes to get to the Magic Kingdom, the Transportation & Ticket Center, Disney's Polynesian Resort, and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Disney's Coronado Spring is more spread out. There's only one sit-down restaurant, the Maya Grill, and the only transportation available is by shuttle bus, which takes a lot longer - sometimes they get so crowded you have to wait until the next one comes - and the air conditioning doesn't always work.

Now, you said "the Garden View rooms are just standard, ordinary rooms." When they say the room is "standard" that just means it's an ordinary room, not a suite with multiple rooms. Disney's Cornado Springs Resort's rooms are standard as well. But Disney's Contemporary Resort's standard rooms sleep up to five people. Disney's Coronado Springs Resort's standard rooms only sleep 2-4 people.

Remember, you get what you pay for. Disney's Coronado Springs Resort is cheaper because, while it's a nice Resort, is simply not as wonderful as Disney's Contemporary Resort. And it's the Year of a Million Dreams at Walt Disney World! If you book a Garden View room and they have a room with a better view available when you check in, they'll very likely upgrade you. This past summer my boyfriend and I paid for a Lagoon View room at Disney's Polynesian Resort and were upgrade to a Magic Kingdom View room in the Concierge Longhouse. You may get lucky, too!

Hope I could help! Have fun!

Save yourself some money (which you'll need at Disney World) and stay at the Coronado Springs Resort. The Coronado is a lovely hotel and is my top pick of the moderately priced Disney Resorts. I have stayed at the Contemporary. While it offers terrific food and shopping, the rooms - even with a Garden View, are just so so. And when you're at Disney, you don't spend much time in the rooms anyway, so why pay more? You can always visit the Contemporary to enjoy Chef Mickey's, or my favorite restaurant there - The California Grill, located on the top floor (amazing sushi). It doesn't mean you have to be a guest there to enjoy what it has to offer.

I like the Coronado for several reasons: the architecture is breathtaking, The Pepper Market has yummy Mexican food, you can kayak on the lake, the resort is huge, the pool is beautiful, and it has the feel of a delux resort. Trust me - save your money for souveniers or a nice meal! :)

I dont know about the rooms, but coronado springs is equivilant to another resort i stayed at, carribean beach, and we loved it, very nice....we also stayed at pop century, when we go back, i think we'll go to carribean or another higher up one then the all star resorts. The more you pay, yeah, the nicer it is, but nothing at disney that i've encounter is really bad....I;ve gone to contemporary 2 times, just to have dinner, and you have the monorail that runs through the contemporary, so naturally with the restaurant in the hotel and the monorail, it will be busier then coronado springs...so that may be something worth keeping in mind too...also contemporary hotel is literally right next door to the magic kingdom, you could walk there or take the monorail over and not have to worry about the bus wait....hope this helps, but wherever you stay i'm sure you'll have a WONDERFUL time in disney, we always do...good luck

I have stayed at several Disney hotels and all are wonderful. You can take a bus from any Disney hotel to any Disney park and they run about every 15 minutes. The big difference that I saw when staying at the Contemporary, was the fact that it is so close to Disney World that we actually walked one night from the front gate at Disney to the hotel in under 15 minutes. I had a 2 year old and a 7 year old and they were tired so it was easier at the end of the day to walk than to catch the bus. All of hotels are clean and well kept and the staff are wonderful. I would actually choose the cheaper one if I were you. The contemporary is the hotel that the tram runs through to get to Disney World so it has a better reputation. When I stayed there about a year ago, We stayed in the main building that the tram runs though. But then 6 months ago I went back and I stayed at Pop Century and it was just as wonderful but much cheaper. There never was a long wait for a bus to or from the parks.

I would stay at the Coronado. Much nicer to look at and better pool. The contemporary is ugly and you have the monorail that runs through it. I've been to disney 5 times. The Contemporary is closer to the Magic Kingdom because you can get right on the monorail at your hotel and it will take you over to Magic Kingdom or to the Transportation Center. From there you can take the monorail over to Epcot or get on a bus to one of the other Parks. If you have kids definitly go to Coronado.

You should probably take the cheaper resort becuz you will be to busy (more than likely) to be in room that much.
