You answered your own question.

If a student has various problems with her family, emotional problems, or financial ones, then she'll be too distracted to perform well and graduate. She might get depressed and drop out because handling those problems would be easier if she weren't burdened with school. That's why I think it is important for schools to look at what students are burdened with and provide resources to help them cope with their problems.

Some college students may even prioritize their personal problems over school. I know a girl that dropped out of college because she felt like she got too busy to spend time with her boyfriend. Well now she is pregnant so I guess they'll be spending a lot of time together. If she had been able to talk to someone at her school then maybe it could've been prevented and she would've stayed in and graduated.

It will definitely be the genesis behind what could come out in the future of those college students...

Crime...is a perfect example...

Going back in history of a person is usually found on records like High School's.....

When things get difficult somehow solving or finding the right thread or to be on the right track, then going back to records will tell you who you are dealing with; character wise....

It's important if the college cares about their student graduation rate.
