assembled sys may be very useful in choosing ur own configurations... like if u r gonna play the latest games, u can choose ur ram , speed etc correspondingly.. its cheaper but not reliable (as Japan products).. the only problem is u wont get the original softwares... :(
branded systems are limited to their own config.. its costlier but u have free service and warranty.. also reliable (as German products)..

An assembled computer is cheaper, and more customizable / upgradeable. When you buy a computer, such as an Alienware, you're paying almost twice as much for the trade name. You can buy all the parts that make up that very same computer and assemble it yourself, or have it assembled, for far less. You also have more control about switching parts in the future should any fail or you decide to get a better part. Since a lot of brand names are limited when it comes to upgrades, an assembled computer will save you money in the long run as well, since you can simply replace the part rather than have to buy a whole new system.

Edit: Parts you buy separate have warranties too, to which you can send it back for a brand new one if it fails.

A bit of a strange question. Apple (mac) does NOT allow anyone to make their computers. Thus, it's a over priced PC. A MAC is a pc now NOT a mac. It uses the Intel cpu and FreeBSD based OS, and has almost no software (try finding programs). The regular PC using windows is the cheapest and easiest to get programs for, even using Linux on the pc will give you more choices in software than the PC (mac) with OS x.

I think it is obvious that an branded computer is better because if the computer fails then the person from whom you are buying it might not repair it because it is has no warranty.

if you build your own computer, you have more control over what it does and you can assemble it to your own specification. if you dont know much about computers then you may want to buy a dell.
