My sons gaming pc uses DDR2 memory. Currently has two 512 sticks installed in slots A-1 and B-1. The manufacturer (Velocity Micro) said I could use a gig stick to double the memory but to make sure I installed it in the 2 slot. The two slots remaining are marked A-2 and B-2. I tried both and the pc would not boot and gave a series of beeps. What am I doing wrong. Does the dual channel requirement have anything to do with this? Should I be using two 512 sticks? I am positive I have the coorect memory for the pc. Please help.

Please specify the make and model of your hardware/CPU

Just click "Add Details" below your question and give us more specifics so we can offer a more accurate answer.

I purchased memory from http://www.crucial.com/ and found that they have easy to use instructions to find out what is the correct memory for your device and how to install it… even though you didn't purchase from them, they will likely have the information you need to solve your dilemma.

I'm glad to see that my link was helpful. Did you go through all the FAQs on the page, and make note that it says that your device will have better performance with matched modules? Also, did you see there's a link to scan your system to tell you what you have and what is recommended? And on the left side of the page is a link for "Install Guides" that include troubleshooting.

If all else fails, contact the manufacturer, there should be some sort of guarantee.

your doing fine all you need to do is pull one of the 512 slots out and put the gig one in the same one then restart comp , see if that works . it should also some older comps use different type of memory make sure you have the same type . most comps dont have 4 slots to add memory first like i said remove a 512 and put it there if that works then send me a pm i can help you from there..

Try just plugging in the gig stik. See what happens. Take out both 512 sticks. If it don't work, the memory stick is probably defective.

go to your BIOS and disable the dual channel memory feature.
