Moral values are the most important thing you have. Living on principles and standing on moral ground is the basis of having integrity.

If something is wrong, and you stand against it, then you are acting in accordance with your moral integrity. It doesn't matter if everyone in the world disagrees with you, or everyone in your country disagrees with you, as long as you are standing by a moral conviction you are standing on principle.

Consider the following:

Is slavery moral or immoral?

It was perfectly legal in the United States to own slaves up until the Civil War (1861-1865.) Just because it was legal didn't make it moral or right.

Women didn't get the right to vote in the United States until the 1920's. From the 1870's until the 1920's, Women staged marches and protests until they got the vote. The entire country was opposed to women getting the right to vote claiming the moral high ground.

Is it acceptable for a business or the government to refuse service to citizens based on gender, race, or religion? It was acceptable for states to separate people based on skin color not too long ago.

Would it be okay if the government started to tell you how to pray and worship? Would it be okay if the government penalized people for not praying a certain way?

What if the US government said it was okay to round up people of Muslim and Arab descent. Would that be okay? What if they said it was to protect the nation's security? What if the majority of people were in favor of it? Is it okay then?

Is it okay for the government to bypass the Constitution to spy on all of us for our security?

Is it okay to lock up and detain people who question the government and the president?

These questions are relevant today as they were in the times when our nation was founded. The bottom line is what do you consider more important, loyalty to country over a sense of right and wrong?

In my opinion, the true test of character is to stand by your morals and uphold your integrity. That is the true spirit of what it means to be an American. Americans question authority. In times of crisis, it serves us to band together, but it never serves us to give up our liberties and freedoms.

We're lucky to live in a country where we have the freedom to make choices, and we can question authority. When we lose those freedoms, we no longer live in a free society.

Pay attention to what's going on now. Get informed. Get involved.

Peace.

Moral Values..with it comes National Loyalty

Moral values. National loyalty not based on moral values is dangerous. Sometimes a country is led astray, but hopefully the people have the right to express ourselves to right the problems.

Moral values are most important. Loyalty to any entity that wants to destroy truth should be ignored and dealt with and if persistence is an issue exposed. Ignored meaning not allowing a belief system that excludes no difference between right from wrong to control what you already know. Deal with it means to let people know you won't tolerate wishful thinking and illusion.

Enabling appears to be replacing empathy. Dishonest seems to be replacing truth. The core of what people try to get out of this is pretty easy to see.

Jade, both are misleading... Politicians try and create a dissent among people by touching on these subjects... For instance "Vote for me I am a patriot". "Oh that's immoral he should be hung". At the end of the day one persons moral values can be another's immoral horror... coming to National loyalty, Gandhi once said " I love my country...But I love my countrymen more!!!"

Moral values. Many do not always agree with the actions of their nation, so it is better to have a moral compass than to follow blindly.
