just multiply the coefficient 8 through the bracket...
16x^2
The exponent isn't affected by the coefficient. It would only be affected if you had another exponent outside the bracket.
When you multiply exponents through a bracket, you ADD exponents. So if it is meant to be (2x^2)^8 as some people seem to think, it would be equal to 2x^10 , NOT the 256x^16 as someone else indicated.

(2x^2)8 = 8*(2x^2) = 8*2x^2 = 16*x^2

If it is (2x^2) x 8, then it would be 16x^2
If it is (2x^2)^8, then it would be 256x^16
