Do what suits you. You could do those things. Or something else if you so chose. Although other's opinions may feel powerful, they're truly nothing in the long scale theme of things. Only you will stand in judgement of your life, now or ever, so make it a good one. I find as long as one is doing what makes them happy, and they respect it, they'll feel incredible joy from it. So to cut down on other's opinion you may attempt to accomodate other's wishes about yourself to make them feel better about what you do, but all in all, in won't matter unless you yourself are truly liking and respecting what you do. So that comes first. If you're doing that and other's opinions are still negative, then the accomodation would probably be a good idea, or avoidance of the pessimistic people altogether, as best as one can while still living normally. But as I said, Nothing matters unless you yourself are content with your own situation. Finding joy in life is basically the point of it. So live with Standard. Do what you feel joy in and respect. Forget the rest.

If we sit in an environment , that is constantly threatening our life, testing our competitiveness we will always feel bad. We all have heard this:

"I cried for my second pair of shoes till I saw a man with no legs!"

This is the situation that we are in most of the times and that is our own making. To us it looks that life or fate has dealt a raw deal . One of my teachers used to say : Life is like a scrable game. Each one of us take out the same number of ( 7) pieces of letters. Some have only vowels with low points. Some are dealt other letters with more points. It is NOT possessing the letters that count. What counts is how many words that we can make of what has been dealt to us.

Life is just that. You and I have been dealt only this .Less intelligence. Less resources. Less opportunities . So what? There are others who are worse than us.

Just take a flight to Africa. To sriLanka. To Iraq. You will feel that you are far , far better than many unfortunate people. Life`s meaning will, then be clear. Do something to these suffereing people. Donot just sit there and await deliverance. Please get up.

This worldly life is a gift. How you choose to spend it is what defines you. You can make a contribution to society or you can be a blight upon it. You can leave an heritage through the ages and be remembered as a good man or you can choose not to be remembered at all. You have purpose and meaning in this life. Cease the moment and live the life you were meant to do!

80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.

I've come to two conclusions recently:

1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.

First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.

Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.

So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.

To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable..... 80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. We have only a limited time on Earth. While we are here, our greatest goal should be to do someting to make the world better, to leave behind something that is less ephemeral than we are. If you can contribute to the happiness of one other person, then your life has meaning.

Whats more to life is to just realize, realize theres no such thing as a loser, by whose definition do you look like hell? self-realization is your task and you have almost a hundred years to come to it, embracing ones own self, not just accepting who yo are, loving it and cherishing everything about yourself, its the key.

Be a winner. Look like heaven. Sit there smelling beautiful. Feel good. It's meaningful. Life is what you make it. Make it good. Change your attitude. It's that simple!

Your right of course. But isn't it ironic that the only animal capable of realizing the lack of meaning is the one who can choose to opt out by being miserable about it?

Use that knowledge as freedom. Do whatever you want, stay clean so you can have lots of sex. then you die.
