Error code 161 means your CMOS battery is dead and 163 is that system date and time are not set (which makes sense as the CMOS battery is dead)

consult the manual; maybe you can replace the CMOS battery (note that this is not the 'big' battery but rather a small battery on the motherboard that keeps some basic settings in memory)

Error 161 means dead CMOS battery. Service data relates the problem to either the backup battery or the system board.

Error 163 means Time/Date were not set. Service data relates this to the System board.

1. Replace the CMOS battery

2. If the problem remains, replace the mainboard.

You can downlaod the HMM (Hardware Maintenance Manual) from Lenovo's website with will show you how to replace the battery. Some disassembly required.

It looks to me as though your RAM is at fault, If you have more than 1 stick of RAM in the laptop or you have a spare stick of the same type eg. ddr, ddr2 sodimm then try that and if it works fine then buy some new ram.
