HUZZ published a remarkably thorough reaction, yet not one of the coding in the VIN of that era designates a trim point (like XLT or SS or LE, etc., in accordance with kind) Even as we communicate's longer VIN (17 vs the 12 in 1971) infrequently codes the trim point or overall performance class, in spite of producer, till the overall performance class is a thoroughly separate assembly technique with huge factors content textile distinction, like an AMG Mercedes or an SRT8 Chrysler. for that reason, the VIN won't demonstrate in spite of if the motor vehicle is a real SS or not. you may detect a properly reported, previous college Chevy mechanic, as he can probable spot the final engine numbers or suspension factors. The SS exchange into not as dramatically diverse from different production line vehicles as are the present crop of sturdy point overall performance vehicles, like those pronounced above and the Shelby vehicles and a few others. So, base line, i'm afraid the respond on your question is "no".
