i need to find the numbers to set up a wireless router

It's not clear which "numbers" you mean... Do you mean the phone number for your ISP, or your IP number?

If you're looking for IP numbers...

The router will automatically assign numbers for devices in your local network (These are the "192.168...." numbers, a set which is reserved for LAN usage).

It will then perform Network Address Translation for you, so that net-side traffic will always use the IP number assigned by your ISP host.

Note that, in many cases, this will be a variable number. Your ISP company may change it from time to time... your router obtains the current number from the server, automatically.

The only time you need to do anything with IP's in your router is if you have a "static IP" - one that doesn't change. Normally, you'd have to request that specially, and pay extra, so I assume you'd already know about.

click Start, Run and type "cmd" and click OK.

At the prompt type the word "ipconfig" and press enter.

That will show your IP address and your gateway addresses (your isp). Write that information down.

These instructions are for WinXP/2000/NT.

what kind of broadband connection do you have cable or dsl modem?
