Depends upon what you mean by "New Orleans", as in "The city of..." or the metropolitan area. Most people attending the game live in the metro area, but not in the city.

The City of New Orleans was only about half a million before the hurricane. Most people lived outside the city, about 1.3 million. Today, I believe the metro area is about 1 million. It's not much different from other older cities, Boston, Baltimore, D.C., where "the city" is only a fraction of the population. And like a Red Sox, Ravens, or Redskins game, the Saints games are usually made up of people from the surrounding areas.

Plus, following the hurricane, it seems the fan base grew, even before they started doing well. The whole state really latched onto the team and the gulf coast states have become more interested. Heck, some of the biggest Saints fans I know live in Mississippi and Alabama.

Yes. I don't know if you noticed, but the city of New Orleans is very poor. Most of the people that live in the city limits can't afford to go to Saints games. There are rich suburbs of the city, which is where most fans live.

I was at the game last night, but I'm from St. Bernard parish just southeast of New Orleans about 20 minutes from the superdome.

I live 30 miles north of the dome- I don't agree with the first answerer though. PLENTY of New Orleanians(of all status) attend the game- it just depends on how big of a fan you are- and what you are willing to sacrifice(my poor friend saves all summer to attend)
